Position/Salary:   Superintendent / Commensurate with Experience and Qualifications

Location:             Mill Basin Brooklyn NY/ Greater New York City Area and additional Project Locations 

The Superintendent reports to the General Superintendent and is the on-site, direct supervisor of construction field crews. The Superintendent is also responsible for equipment, logistics, report writing, and client liaison activities in connection with construction projects. Occasional travel is involved. Corporate office is in Chestnut Ridge, NY, in the metro New York City area, with easy access to the tri-state area. Some projects may require night-shift hours. 

Additional duties include:

  • Assist with cost estimating 
  • Manage logistics for crews, crane barges, and tugboats
  • Development of hazard analysis for projects
  • Review of safe work practices with labor force prior to project commencement
  • Holding daily safety meetings with crew • Documentation of daily safety meetings
  • Accident investigation and reporting
  • Performing routine safety inspections
  • Collaborate with General Superintendent, Equipment, Means and Methods or other Equipment Division managers to ensure proper coordination & arrival of equipment to sites
  • As a member of the Operations Team, participate in the management of daily operational issues, including long-term planning and resource coordination, identifying and improving procedures, project staffing and ongoing project support
  • Other duties as assigned 

Education/Work Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in civil marine construction, including project management, equipment, scheduling, cost control and personnel administration
  • B.S Degree in Engineering or related construction discipline Preferred 
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and verbal/written communication skills Required 
  • Able to work independently and in a collaborative team-oriented environment
  • Experience supervising on marine, dredging, deep foundation, pile sheeting, mass excavation. utility projects, storm water, bridges Required
  • Knowledgeable of heavy civil and marine construction current practices and regulations
  • Flexibility to effectively deal with changing priorities and timelines through analytical problem-solving
  • OSHA 30 Certificate Completed within Past 5 years Required
  • NY Port Authority Project Experience Preferred
  • Ability to effectively mentor professional development of field management
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Sound judgment

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
  • Must be able to work outdoors on various terrain in a wide range of weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
